Internet protocol (IP), Transmission control protocol (TCP), host, IP address

Internet protocol (IP): In internet, computers which are connected use internet protocol to communicate among themselves. Information is transferred in the forms of chunks of data known as packets. The packets are routed by the using the concept of dynamic routing. Dynamic routing is a reliable form of delivery where, if one of the delivery system is broken, another system would be used to deliver the packets to the required destination.

Transmission control protocol (TCP): It is another protocol used along with IP for communicating between networks. In internet, both TCP and IP are used for delivering information by using TCP/IP.

Host: Every computer which is hooked to the internet is known as a host computer. A host can be connected by using cables, phone lines and also by satellites.

Internet protocol address (IP address): Every host computer in internet is recognized by an IP address. It is also used to connect to the internet. Every time a computer is connected to the internet, it is assigned an IP address. This IP address is assigned by the Internet service provider (ISP). IP addresses can be static or dynamic.
