You can change how sites are displayed in tabs in IE 10 in Windows 8. To change tab settings in Internet Explorer 10, follow the below given steps:
1) Click on Tools menu on the far right or press Alt + X.
2) Click on Internet Options.
3) Under “General tab”, in tabs section, click on “Tabs”.
Here are the different settings you can change:
i) Enable tabbed browsing: Checking this option will enable tabbed browsing.
ii) Always switch to new tabs when they are created: Checking this option will always take you to a new tab.
iii) Show previews for individual tabs in the taskbar: Checking this option will show tab previews in taskbar.
iv) Enable Quick Tabs (Ctrl + Q): Checking this option will enable the quick tabs.
v) Enable Tab Groups: Checking this option will enable groups to be created for tabs.
vi) Open only the first home page when Internet Explorer starts: Checking this option will open only the first homepage which is entered in Homepage field. If you check this option multiple tabs will not open when you start IE.
vii) When a new tab is opened, open: Here, you can choose whether the new tab will be a blank page, new tab page, or homepage.
viii) Let Internet Explorer decide how pop-ups should open: Checking this option will allow IE to make decisions related to pop-ups.
ix) Always open pop-ups in a new window: Checking this option will open pop-ups in a new window.
x) Always open pop-ups in a new tab: Checking this option will open pop-ups in a new tab in the same window.
xi) Open links for other programs in: Here, you can choose whether the new links will open in a new window, a new tab in current window, or the active current tab or window.
Note: You need to make sure that after you apply these settings, you need to restart your computer to make the changes.
