Fix VLC media player error: An unhandled win32 exception occurred in vlc.exe [5048]

If you are getting the following error when you open VLC media player:

An unhandled win32 exception occurred in vlc.exe [5048]. Just-In-Time debugging this exception failed with the following error: No installed debugger has Just-In-Time debugging enabled. In Visual Studio, Just-In-Time debugging can be enabled from Tools/Options/Debugging/Just-In-Time.

Then, here are the solutions to fix it:


1) Right click on “My Computer”. Then select “Properties”.

2) Select “Advanced” Tab.

3) Select “Settings” for “Performance”.

4) Select “Data Execution Prevention” Tab.

5) Select option “Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.” If this option is already selected, click on “OK”, then again click on “OK”.

6) Restart your computer.

If this doesn’t work then try this solution:


1) Go to “Start”.

2) Then, “Control Panel”.

3) Click on “Add or remove programs”.

4) Remove VLC media player.

5) Re-install the latest version of VLC media player.
