h and l modifier: h modifier is used to display a short integer and a l modifier is used to display a long integer in a scanf () function. For Example: %hd is used to display a short int and %ld is used to display a long int.
Maximum field width format modifier: A maximum field width modifier is an integer between the percentage sign and the format specifier. This modifier limits the maximum number of characters which needs to be read. For example: scanf(“%10s”, str); will read only 10 characters.
* modifier: It is used for suppressing an assignment. That means the field will be read but a variable will not be assigned.
