Microsoft Windows 2000/XP Event Log Administrative Weakness

Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 2000, when configured to send administrative alerts and the “Do not overwrite events (clear log manually)” option is set, does not notify the administrator when the log reaches its maximum size.

Could allow local users and remote attackers to avoid detection.

This issue was first corrected in Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3).

Update to a supported version of Microsoft Windows since Windows XP and Windows 2000 are End-of-Life.
