What is a jump list in Windows 8?
Jump list is a list of most visited items, recently closed items and tasks for an app which is pinned to a taskbar. By using a jump list you can access the recently closed and most visited items in a fly. If you have a habit of using jump lists then you can save a considerable amount of time because almost all the time we wish to open a recently closed or the most visited program. Jump lists works only for the apps which have been pinned to the taskbar. To access the jump list for an icon, right click on the icon in the taskbar and you will find the jump list for that app. For Example, below given is the jump list for Chrome. Here you can see the most visited items, recently closed items and tasks. The terminology for the items in the jump list may vary for a different app.
How to arrange the pinned icons on taskbar in Windows 8?
To arrange the pinned items on taskbar, click and hold an icon, and drag it to the desired location.
To change the jump list settings, follow the below given steps:
1) Right click on the middle of the taskbar, where there are no icons and select “Properties”.
2) In Jump Lists tab:
i) Number of recent items to display in jump lists: Here you can pick the number of recent items which will be shown for an icon in the jump list.
ii) Store recently open programs: Check this option if you want recently open programs to be stored.
iii) Store and display recently open items in Jump lists: Check this option if you want recently open programs to be stored and displayed in jump lists.
