Advanced startup option in Windows 8 is used for starting the computer from a disc by using a USB flash drive or by using a DVD drive. It is generally used for changing the firmware settings of the computer, for changing the start up settings of the computer or for restoring Windows from a system image.
To use Advanced startup option in Windows 8, follow these steps:
1) Go to: Charms bar –> Settings –> Change PC settings –> General
2) Under section “Advanced Startup” click on “Restart Now”.
3) Then, click on “Troubleshoot”.
4) Then, on the next page, select any of the below given options:
a) Refresh your PC: This option is used for refreshing the copy of Windows and all the files remain intact.
b) Reset your PC: This option is used for removing all the files and then Windows 8 will be reinstalled. You need to make sure that you made a backup of your old files before proceeding.
c) Advanced Options: This option can be used for system restore, system image recovery, automatic repair, command prompt for troubleshooting, and to change the Windows startup settings.
