Windows 7 has an in-built Memory Diagnostic tool which you can use for fixing any type of memory problems in your computer. By using Memory Diagnostic tool, you can run memory tests to isolate the problem and fix it. You can run three types of tests using Memory Diagnostic tool: Basic test, Standard test and Extended test.
To use Memory Diagnostic tool to fix memory problems in Windows 7, follow the below given steps:
1) Press Windows key + R.
2) Type cmd in Run dialog box. Click on OK.
3) In the command prompt, type mdsched.exe and press Enter.
4) In Windows Memory Diagnostic dialog box, click on “Restart Now and check for problems”.
Now, the computer will restart and Memory Diagnostic tool will run. In Memory Diagnostic tool, press F1 for options. In Options, Press Tab for Next option, F10 to apply and Esc key to Cancel. You can press up and down arrow keys to browse through the options.
You can run the following tests:
i) Basic Test: Basic tests include MATS+, SCHCKR, and INVC.
ii) Standard Test: Basic Test + Stride6, LRAND, WMATS+, CHCKR3, and WINVC.
iii) Extended Test: Standard Test + WSCHCKR, Stride38, WStride-6, CHCKR4, ERAND, WCHCKR3, and CHCKR8.
Cache: You can turn the cache to on or off.
After the memory test is completed, you can see the results.
